My last oil change was in January and I just crossed 5,000 miles and was due for an oil change this week. I use synthetic oil and change it every 5k.
I don't drive enough I guess.

Good man.
8,000km (5,000mi) is more than safe with a synthetic.
You could easily bump that up to 10,000+km (6,214mi - 6,000 for the sake of a round number) but I’m with you... 7,500-8,000km for me.
Also: synth doesn’t “time expire” like conventional does so if you don’t drive a lot (raises hand) it gets around the whole issue of a forced oil change before logging the miles when you hit a certain date on the calendar.
Do you use an app to track maintenance?

Currently, I use CarMinder. I like it but it's a bit old school looking.

How many miles is your synthetic rated for? I know that my oil and filter both are supposed to be good for 15k but I planned on changing it at 10k to be safe. Any reason for going much earlier at 5k? I’ve done 5-6k on conventional without issue on my old car.

No specific reason. Mostly because almost all the trips the car takes are quite short (10 miles or less). And I spend a lot of time idling and sitting in stop-and-go traffic. And, the 2.3 is super picky about oil changes. I just go the “better safe than sorry” route.

Oh yeah definitely, gotta keep the engine healthy and oil is cheap. I love the way a car drives with fresh oil. Always the best!
